Several books have been published and a few plays staged about Sabbatai Zevi and the Sabbatean community, each capturing different facets of this fascinating history. Why Was the Whispered Identity Whispered?
In this episode of Society and Politics, Gülener Kırnalı’s guest was writer Uluç Özüyener. Özüyener discussed the historical journey of the Sabbateans, from the story of Sabbatai Zevi, which began in the 17th century, to the community that took shape in Thessaloniki and its subsequent history in Turkey.
